Coming to study in Cornwall and want to continue or learn to play Volleyball?

Whatever your level of Volleyball experience Cornish Saracens would love to welcome you. Playing out of the best hall in Cornwall at Penryn College (1 mile if that from Tremough campus) the Sarries are the de facto university volleyball club mixed with some of the more friendly locals. We have a general session every Thursday night from 7.30 -9.30 and also play matches and have group specific training on Sunday lunchtimes. We hope to run 3 teams in the Cornish Leagues next season and if you are good enough there is an opportunity to play for Kernow in the South West Regional League.

Look out for us at the Freshers Fair at Tremough where you can get more info on the mini bus service we will be operating from October to ferry students to and from training - picking up at Tremough and Falmouth.

Meanwhile please get in touch via this website and/or join our facebook page where club news and info is posted

Kernow Truro Volleyball Club

Kernow Truro Volleyball Club, based at Truro Leisure Centre, re-formed three years ago and had a very successful start winning the division one trophy. This year we merged with the Kernow Team to form a larger Squad. Kernow have been representing Cornwall in the South West Regional League for a couple of years now, gaining 3rd and 2nd places in a tough league. This year though, with good results behind them they have applied and been successful in gaining entry to the National League, making Kernow Truro not only the first team in 30 years from Cornwall in the National League also the only team within Devon and Cornwall to be represented.

Kernow Truro last weekend attended the South West Championships, a weekend tournament held in Plymouth, with some very tough teams from Cardiff, Bristol and Exeter there also did awesomely well in securing 3rd place overall.

Cornwall Volleyball Season Review 2010-2011

Cornwall Volleyball is on the up! This year again we have had a successful year with both divisions showing improvement and development of new players.

Within Division 2 Cornwall saw the development of a new club at Brannel in St Stephen, with a couple of old faces at the helm that steered the team to a healthy mid table finish. Countrymen had a mixture of the “old” and the “young” within their two teams in division two, the old boys secured an unbeaten run to win the league and the young lads fought well especially towards the end of the season winning their last few matches.

Division one showed the strength and depth that Cornwall has within its ranks, every team had some new players who were either developed through the sport or returned from old. The Helston lads finally took the title after near misses for the last 3 years, and Saracens who recently formed had a fabulous season with a whole new club of members started only last year.

Last week we also saw the County Championships take place at the Saracens Hall in Penryn. Every team was represented with Countrymen B emphasising their dominance in Division two by winning the plate. The “veterans” of Countrymen A upset the applecart by beating Helston A, the new League Champions in the semi-final. That took so much from them, however, they were able to offer only token resistance in the final against a very strong Truro side, who comfortably won the event 2-0. Truro had earlier beaten the continually improving Saracens team in the other semi.

Next weekend Bank Holiday weekend the Countrymen Beach Tournament takes place on Perranporth, with teams from all over the South West in attendance. Saturday is a pair’s tournament with all money going to charity and Sunday is a Fours tournament, hopefully the weather will hold?
